Students cup Utrecht

Besides the Math Salden tour last Saturday, was it also time for the last students cup of this academic year! The races took place in the Wilhelminapark in Utrecht.

Four members of DM participated: Martijn and Thom participated in the category men without a license and Lieske and Lotte participated in the category female. Both Martijn and Thom rode a strong race and Thom eventually sprinted to a nice third place, whereas Martijn got an unfortunate flat tire.

Lieske rode very strong in the women’s race. She continuously attacked and tried to get away from the leading group, but she sprinted to a nice first place in the final lap! This means that she preserved her second place in the general classification! Unfortunately, Lotte had to stop soon due to material issues.

Omloop Math Salden

Last Saturday, some of members of Dutch Mountains participated in the ‘Omloop Math Salden’ organized by our main sponsor Math Salden. It was a beautifully, sunny day and there were a couple of stops along the marked route through the hills of Limburg where it was possible to refuel yourself with some sport nutrition. We would like to thank Math Salden for organizing this tour, we have had a nice day and we are already looking forward to next year! We would like to recommend you to participate as well!

GNSK

Last weekend the GNSK took place in Wageningen. DM represented team Maastricht in the cycling events. Due to a small accident, the women’s team could not participate in the team disciplines. Nevertheless, Renate rode a very strong criterium on Sunday.
On Saturday the first discipline for the Men’s team was the Team time trial, in which Thom and Ivo where the running engines of the squad. After this the sprintcup was planned, but all our men where still tired from the TTT and did not come further then pre-rounds.
Besides the criterium on Sunday there was also an individual time trial. Thom, Jannes and Ivo rode very strong, but it was not good for a close spot in the ranking. Therefore, the hope of the weekend was put on Ivo for the criterium. Unfortunately, the Spanish flat of the Wageningse muur was soon too much for Thom and Jannes, therefore Ivo had to uphold the honour. In the last laps he escaped in a group of 4 and sprinted to a second place!
Overall, it was a very sociable weekend, where we all had a good time!
