Last Saturday the first Studentscup of the season took place in Delft, organised by WTOS Delft. The weather was thankfully good and Dutch Mountains was well represented in all categories. The first race of the day was the women’s race, where 4 DM ladies where on the start list. Lieske who won the Dutch National Students Championship in Amsterdam last year, made her debut in her new Dutch Champion jersey. In her new tricot she finished at the 9th place in the bunch sprint. Lotte had a strong sprint and ended at a nice 5th place and Ella also finished in the bunch. Renate unfortunately noted a DNF behind her name as she was feeling ill.
After the women’s race, it was time for the men without a license. Among the 6 men of DM, there were two debutants: Mathijs and Laurent. Laurent noted a DNF and Mathijs finished in the peloton together with Yoram and Frank. In the bunch sprint there were two top 10 places for DM: Jannes sprinted to the 9th place and Thom who, just as Lieske, made his debut as the Dutch National Students Champion (in his Dutch Champion jersey) sprinted to the 3rd place. Thom won the first price for DM this season!
Lastly, the men’s race with a license took place. Even though Lars and Ivo were the only two DM men in this category, they were not afraid to attack. After an exciting race Lars came very close to the victory. Unfortunately, he came only a few centimetres too short which resulted in a 2nd place. Ivo finished at a nice 7th place.
Altogether it was a good day with some nice results and a 3rd place in the overall team classification! We would like to thank WTOS Delft for the nice pictures and we hope to see everyone on the next stop for the Studentscup in Wageningen on the 14th of April.
