In the ‘recreantenrace’ a delegation of Dutch Mountains showed their strong legs. Christiaan Riemens, Mark Knoops and Peter Roozemond took off halfway through the race together with former Greek national champion time trailing Neofytos Sakellaridis. Roozemond ultimately managed to win the race in a sprint-a-deux with Sakellardis.
The men without licence race was characterised by a relatively big group of cyclists that stayed together for most of the race. In the end, Guus Schutte from NSWV Mercurius managed to sneak away from the peloton and finished solo.
Going solo turned out to be the key to success during this year’s Ronde van Wolder. Both the races in the women’s category and men with licence category were won solo. In the women’s category it was Esmee Peperkamp (also NSWV mercurius) who took off solo right from the beginning of the race until the glorious end. In the men with licence category it was our own Lars Quaedvlieg who managed to demolish all of his rivals. Congratiolations!
