DM Classic

We look back at a very memorable DM-Classic. Thanks to all participants, Rivazza, the lovely surroundings of Maastricht and the unpredictable, apocalyptic weather, last Sunday was filled with eating good food and bike rides that were already given the predicate ‘epic’ after the first few kilometres. Although the participants had to endure severe heat, thunderstorms, torrential rain, hailstones and some pretty though climbs, everyone made it back to UM Sports safely at the end of the day. The delicious pasta that was served there was devoured with love. We hope to see all of you die-hards next year again.

Ronde van Wolder

In the ‘recreantenrace’ a delegation of Dutch Mountains showed their strong legs. Christiaan Riemens, Mark Knoops and Peter Roozemond took off halfway through the race together with former Greek national champion time trailing Neofytos Sakellaridis. Roozemond ultimately managed to win the race in a sprint-a-deux with Sakellardis.

The men without licence race was characterised by a relatively big group of cyclists that stayed together for most of the race. In the end, Guus Schutte from NSWV Mercurius managed to sneak away from the peloton and finished solo.

Going solo turned out to be the key to success during this year’s Ronde van Wolder. Both the races in the women’s category and men with licence category were won solo. In the women’s category it was Esmee Peperkamp (also NSWV mercurius) who took off solo right from the beginning of the race until the glorious end. In the men with licence category it was our own Lars Quaedvlieg who managed to demolish all of his rivals. Congratiolations!

Students cup Enschede

Last Saturday, was it time for the third students cup of the year. Five members of DM travelled the long journey to Enschede where Klein Verzet was organizing the race. In contrary to all the other races did the men and women start at the same time which resulted in an exciting race for the supporters. At the women’s race, sprinted Lieske to the front group and Ella and Lotte tried to stop the chasing of the bunch. Lieske eventually cycled to a nice second place and the mission was succeeded. By the men’s race did Jannes and Tom represent DM. After a difficult race finished both men in the bunch during the sprint.
