Activities

Besides cycling, there also needs to be time for socializing so we can get to know each other better without helmets and cycling gear! That’s why our activities committee organizes at least one fun activity each month, and DM has several annual traditions. Here are a few examples:

Members’ Weekend:

Dutch Mountains goes on members’ weekends several times a year: once in October or November, and once during Ascension Day or Pentecost. The October or November weekend is a trip to the Ardennes for a great cycling weekend. In spring, we head to sunnier spots like the Vosges or the Black Forest. Of course, there’s plenty of time for socializing as well. For each members’ weekend, you’ll receive an email with details on how to sign up and where we’re going.

MUSST Gala:

Every December, Dutch Mountains members get to admire each other looking their best at the MUSST gala! This event is for all student sports associations and takes place at a beautiful location in Maastricht. It’s always a lovely and (for a change) elegant evening!

New Year’s Dinner:

To toast the new year, we gather every January for a New Year’s dinner! Dressed up to the nines, we enjoy a delicious three-course meal and have a fun evening together.

Trip to Spain:

One perk of studying in Maastricht is the Carnival break! To make the most of this week, we go on an annual cycling holiday to Spain. It’s always a wonderful, sociable, and often sunny week!

Other Activities:

Finally, the activities committee organizes a social event every month. Think beer tastings, celebrating Sinterklaas together, or laser tag in Valkenburg. We also often grab a drink together after training sessions as a fun way to wind down.
