Last Saturday the first students cup of the year was held and a big delegation of DM travelled to Delft to participate. The races took place on a flat parcour of RWV de Spartaan. The first success of the day was in the woman race. SophieVon and SophieVanB were in the breakaway and SophieVon was  close to the victory, but she became 2^nd and SophieVan finished as 6^th. Also Lieske (8^th) and debutant Ella (15^th) performed well.

In the non-licence men race it didn’t go as planned. Ruben, Yoram and Jannes tried multiple times to get in a breakaway, but they didn’t succeed and they even didn’t made it to the finish. Besides, Frank also got a nice DNF. The only who did a decent job was Tom with his 8^th place.

The second success of the day was in the licence men race, where Lars finished as 2^nd after riding the whole race in the breakaway. Besides, Dennis (9^th ) finished in a small group in front of the peloton, Robbin (14^th ) finished in the peloton and Jake had also a DNF.

Sunday, January 29th Ella, Tom and Lars participated in the national Dutch students championships cyclocross in Tilburg. In her first cyclocross race Ella finished 6th in the woman race. Tom, who also rode his first cyclocross race, finished 11th in the non-licence men category. The best result of the day came from Lars, who became 3rd in the licence men category!

Last weekend it was time for the first members weekend of this new academic year. With a group of 25 members we went to Malmedy in the Ardennes. On Friday afternoon a group of cyclist went by bike to Malmedy, but because of a miscalculation the group arrived in the dark at our staying. The next day everybody could choose what they want, the cyclists could choose between different routes (ranging from 50 to 160 km) through the beautiful surroundings of the Ardennes. The mountain bikers went on the single tracks in the surroundings of Malmedy. Even the last day there was a lot of cycling including the well-known “koffierondje” and the mountain bikers visited the bike park of Mamedy. Despite the many hours on the bike there was enough time in the evening for some drinks and a lot of fun. We ended the weekend with some delicious pizza’s back home in Maastricht. Overall, it was a successful weekend!
